Our Work

The United Way of Putnam County is committed to creating real, positive change with measurable improvements for people in need within the Putnam County area. As part of that commitment we have created the Community Impact Grants to facilitate funding to charitable organizations throughout the community outside of our Partner Agencies. Through a competitive application process, charitable organizations in Putnam County can apply for an Impact Grant throughout the fiscal year.

The purpose of United Way Community Impact Grant is to fund programs that address priority community needs within the areas of Education, Income and Health. Community Impact Grants are very selective and have limited funding. This year impact grants will not be distributed

Real Men Read Program

The Real Men Read program aims to put a positive male role model in front of elementary school students while promoting literacy and providing a means for personal library ownership. In the 2014-2015 school year, the Real Men Read program accomplished the following:

-20 MENtors volunteered once a month to read to local kindergarten students
-Over 400 students were reached each month
-Each student received 5 books to build their own personal library

United Way of Putnam County has received such positive feedback from school administrators, students, MENtors, parents, and educators that we hope to have the fiscal capability to expand the program further.
